King’s Lynn Stars have signed Niels-Kristian Iversen as a short-term replacement for injured rider Troy Batchelor.
Iversen has won the hearts of many King’s Lynn fans during his time at the Adrian Flux Arena. Although he opted out of British league racing for this year, the Dane always maintained that he would help the Stars if required. Once Batchelor’s extended spell on the sidelines was confirmed, Lynn’s management soon agreed a return for Iversen to ride in the opening stages of the season.
King’s Lynn owner Keith Chapman said: “This morning was a complete shock to us, we had planned to announce Niels this evening along with the excellent news that Kai is joining us. Unfortunately that didn’t go to plan and we were caught on the back foot. Sometimes we are over cautious with the way we release news, but we want to make sure that everything is signed off before doing so.
“Having said that, being able to bring Niels in as cover is a massive boost for us. He always said he would be there if called upon and he was true to his word.
“He is the ultimate professional and we are delighted that he will start the season for us. We want the team to get off to a great start and when Troy is fit we can continue that on and have a great season.”
